X-Clusive was formed in January 2010, and has been very popular since. It is our honor to be able to interview them and feature them on Campus Rock.
Just recently this year, X-Clusive was being signed and now part of the Royal Singapore’s family.
Hey X-Clusive! We all know that you guys have been signed by Royal International Group earlier this year. How do you all feel about that?
We feel really good, excited and happy that our music is appreciated and that Royal see the potential in us in this industry. All this while we have been doing everything independently so with Royal stepping in to manage us, we hope to get a step higher reaching greater heights with our music. In fact one of our goals is to have a good management team and to have our album distributed by a major label and thank god, we reached both goals at around the same time. We definitely look forward to a a greater endeavour with Royal Singapore.
That’s good! So how do you all feel when you guys first step into the entertainment industry as X-Clusive in 2010?
It was a tryout at first. A lot of contemplating as we weren’t sure if we can make it in the industry. There was a lot of challenges and obstacles, but we pulled through one by one.
A Good Positive mindset helps and we worked hard and went through the struggles together. That’s what kept us alive and of course we always keep our dreams in mind so it helps boost our morale each time.
Base on your portfolio, you guys are more of a hiphop genre kind of group, how do you all get the inspirations for your music?
Yeap, but we re-define hiphop to Hip-Pop instead so as to suit the current music trend and to our taste of music as well. Inspiration comes via many directions.
A’Trez – ”One of the many inspiration that motivated me for my music is the growing issue of youngsters getting into the wrong hands of the law, doing the wrong things thus our songs from our first album talks alot about motivating youngsters, to be involve in more worthy activities and to brave all odds no matter what obstacles they face”…he continues, “Another great inspiration comes from travelling around the world seeing different cultures, people and comparing their lifestyle to ours. It helps by adding in the flavour to our music.”
I believe being a celebrity is a busy life, how do you all cope with your personal life as well as your career?
Wow tough one here…haha…..Busy definitely but proper time management and timetable helps. A great deal of self-discipline is also required. Being an artiste, we have to be mindful of our actions as we also have to set a good role model to our fans, be of a positive influence and example to them. We have to also keep our heads low so as to avoid the unnecessary attention.
That’s really tough! Have you guys ever thought of venturing into other areas of the industry? Like acting maybe?
Definitely. In fact Ize has already build up his portfolio after acting in local dramas, both Malay and English. He was also involved in various modelling shoots.
A’Trez on the other hand have a bigger dream of becoming a movie star. He has been the producer,composer and songwriter for all of X-Clusive music and has been working with several producers from around the region.
Nora hopes to start acting too.
As we know, X-clusive has participated in many events. Which are the events that leave a strong impact or impression? Good or bad?
One of the most memorable event that we had performed at would be the one in Esplanade. That event was the pre-launch showcase of our album and the crowd was awesome. We performed in front of a full house crowd and it feels good to see them enjoying to our music.
Wow! That’s good! I believe being an idol yourself, you guys should have an idol of your own right? Who is the idol of each of you?
A’trez idol would be LL Cool J,Ludacris,Altimet,Timbaland,Jay Z.
Nora’s Idol would Be Siti Nurhaliza,Alicia keys,Beyonce and Erika Badu.
Ize’s Idol would be Anuar Zain,marcell,Najip Ali,Neyo,Usher
If there’s a chance to work with them, would you all want to?
No doubt, a YES !!!!
Haha! I guess they are not the only motivation for you guys to be a singer. What really motivates you all?
The passion and excitement of making people enjoy listening and grooving to our music just as how we react to listening to music of our influences. It feels good to be loved and its all about the love. When we perform we are spreading the love of our music to many, And when these listeners/music lovers acknowledge our music , the love that they give in return is astounding, in terms of support and encouragement. These factors drives us to be better and helps us improve as well.
Last but not least, what do you all hope to achieve in this industry?
Our ultimate dream is to be performing our music all over the world and when that moment comes, that will be the time we feel that our mission is accomplished.
